Some Tips For Preventing Cancer
Possibly no word strikes greater fear in people’s hearts than cancer. So it is important to employ every possible strategy that may prevent you from ever hearing it in connection with your health. If you are still smoking, you need to stop. Although it is true that some non-smokers have gotten lung cancer, the majority of people with lung cancer are smokers. Cure your home if it is sick. Radon is a natural gas that can also cause lung cancer. It enters your home from soil and rock in the surrounding area. The danger is you cannot see or smell it. But you can order test kits to check the levels in your home. If you discover they are high, it is not expensive to clear them out.
Go for the green – tea that is. While all tea has cancer-preventing properties, green tea is the highest in polyphenols that kill several types of cancer cells including breast, liver, colon, lung, pancreas, and skin cancer. Christian Drug Rehabilitation Programs – Prayer Changes Everything
In 1999, at the age of 30, I came to a Drug Alternative Program, completed the program and graduated in 2001. Upon graduation, I was employed by the co-founders of the program, Cliff and Freddie Harris. I was hired as House Manager and Lawn Supervisor.
After getting married in 2001, my wife and I purchased a home in Redlands, CA. I was promoted to Assistant Program Director at DAP (Drug Alternative Program). This was the happiest time in my life, not having a mind-altering chemical in my body. I had a beautiful Christian wife, lovely home, a car that I had never wrecked, and money in the bank. In 2003, our son was born bringing us the joyful experience of parenthood. I loved my job that I had held for three years. Most important, Jesus was the Center of my life. In the past, I didn’t know or even care about God at all.
After 4 1/2 years of sobriety, I relapsed on pain medication due to a back injury. I had relapsed in the past but this one was the worst yet. I went down fast and hard. I awakened a demon inside of me again as I stopped praying, studying the Bible and attending church. I was running on self-will.

When Children Have Eye Problems
If children are performing well in school, and do not show symptoms of eye problems, such as squinting, or frequent eye rubbing it is usually assumed that they have normal eyesight. However, when children have reading problems, teachers first suspect vision problems. Some schools have routine vision checks for all students but many do not.
There are three types of eye problems that are common both in children and adults.
A child may have hyperopia or far sightedness which means that their distance vision is normal but their close vision is poor. Children with hyperopia will have problems reading and will encounter eyestrain. This might result in headaches, eye pain, fatigue or nausea. These children will also start to tend to avoid and dislike reading. Signs that children have hyperopia are holding the reading material close to the nose and squinting. In moderate to severe cases, these children will need glasses for reading and close tasks. However, they will not have to wear glasses on the playground. Read more…

Long Term Drug Treatment Programs – Get Out of the Cycle and Back to Your Self
Drug addiction is a serious problem. The medical community now views addiction as a disease or illness because it has both mental and physical effects on the abuser. Detoxification and rehabilitation are often necessary methods for treating the problem, though it depends on the nature of the abuse. If the problem is severe, long term drug treatment is often required to help someone recover and remain drug free.
Long term programs can be very helpful to someone that can’t quit on their own and can reset to both a residential setting as well as an outpatient ongoing environment that provides counseling and support. They are comprehensive programs that include several elements. At a rehab facility, each program is customized to meet the needs of the individual addict and contain both group therapy and individual meetings with staff. There are also people that have succeeded in overcoming their drug problem by attending narcotics anonymous meetings and regularly attending in order to not slip back into old patterns of abuse.
Individual psychotherapy is also responsible for some people being able to remain consistent in staying drug free. Some say that long term drug treatment outpatient care is the foundation of any successful program. The recovering addict receives a broad range of testing and medical attention. Drug abuses causes a lot of damage to the body and regular checks are necessary to ensure that serious issues are caught, treated, and monitored as soon as possible. Outpatient programs also include any medications that may be needed and monitoring their levels and use.

When Children Have Asthma
Many children, as well as adults, suffer from asthma. Asthma is a lung disease that causes the smaller air passages, called bronchioles, to constrict. When this happens, there is moderate to severe difficulty in breathing accompanied by wheezing. Although the wheezing isn’t always audible it is always present. Although adults may not, children do experience some anxiety during an attack.
The attack is sometimes accompanied by an infection in the respiratory tract. If an infection is present there will also be fever. When fever is present, a physician must be consulted, as antibiotics may be needed in addition to the regular asthma medicine. Read more…

Parents Need to Take the Lead Against Drug Abuse
I remember a conversation I had with a police detective some 35 years ago. He was telling me about what a mother had told him over the phone about her teenaged son. “Once he’s out of the house, he’s not our problem.” The detective, who served an upscale suburban community, was explaining to me that parents can be irresponsible and in his mind almost criminal in their neglect of children.
Parents are the most important people in a child’s life. They set the tone for everything. If parents abuse drugs, the children are likely to abuse drugs. If husbands beat their wives, their sons will likely be wife beaters too. If parents divorce and abandon their children, those children are not likely to become model parents either. Parents are the front line in the prevention of drug abuse and there’s so much they can do to try to secure the best possible future for their children.

Teen Drug Addiction – Easy Ways to Tackle the Problem
Drug addiction is crippling the society these days. The worst thing about drug abuse is teenage involvement. Nowadays, a number of children are engaged to be addicted to dangerous drugs at tender ages. In addition, family members are unaware of the habits of their kids. With the easy availability of drugs, it becomes difficult to prevent young minds to prevent teenage addiction.
Among the most popular drugs are marijuana and alcohol that can actually ruin the future of any teenager. Many children get addicted to drugs and alcohol as they see someone in the family having these drugs. Many children try drugs due to heavy pressure from their peer groups. It is commonly seen that due to domestic violence or any other abuse, children try their hands in drugs as it gives instant relief. Some try as a result of curiosity and later on becomes addicted by taking frequent doses. Taking heavy doses at a regular interval can create a lot of trouble and thus, spoil the future life of a child. Thus, the need is to strictly follow measures that restrict the free sale of dangerous drugs and alcohol for children. Putting a ban on the easy access of alcohol and other harmful drugs can somewhat help in spreading of dangerous drugs in the market.

Physical Effects Of Withdrawal From Tobacco
The most commonly felt effects of physical withdrawal from tobacco smoking are feelings of anger, depression, anxiety and restlessness. A chain smoker’s body experiences sharply rising and falling levels of nicotine on a daily basis. In the withdrawal stage, these cycles are coming to an end. Over years, the nicotine literally takes control of about 200 neurochemicals in the brain. The brain is slowly regaining control of these. This causes the intense emotional effects mentioned above.
Within the first 72 hours of withdrawal, if a user abstains totally from nicotine, they will begin to feel the gradual effects of recovery. The brain is now getting used to being lavished with nicotine-free oxygen.
During the early stages of withdrawal, time seems to drag endlessly. The first few weeks are interminable. It is important not to let this overshadow the greater purpose and really keep going with a positive attitude. One may experience an unbearable craving to grab a cigarette. During such an episode, it helps to take a look at the clock and actually time the duration of the ‘attack’. It will likely last no longer that 3 minutes, although it may seem endless ? this helps to gain perspective.
