How To Win With Cancer

Just as in the general population, there has been a
growing epidemic of cancer among celebrities and
public figures, such as in the recent cases of
Patrick Swayze, Cristina Applegate, Sheryl Crow,
Melissa Etheridge, Farrah Fawcett, Ted Kennedy,
Kylie Minogue, Rudy Giuliani, Lance Armstrong,
just to name a few.

Even more celebrities have lost loved ones to cancer,
such as:

Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Rosie O’Donnell (who all lost
their mothers to cancer); Paul McCartney (who lost his first
wife, Linda, to breast cancer); CBS news anchor Katie Couric
(who lost her husband to colon cancer); American Idol David
Cook (who lost his maternal grandfather to lung cancer);
Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News (who lost his mother to
lymphoma and his sister to breast cancer); S. Epatha
Merkerson of “Law and Order” (who lost 2 of her very best
friends to lung cancer) … and the list goes on. Read more…

Will you be denied the swine flu shot this fall?

The question: Will you get the swine flu shot this fall? Will you even be eligible to receive it?

Stephen contacted me recently and helped me realize that very few people have fully appreciated the fact that shortly the biggest and most costly inoculation program in the history of public health will be launched. The cost to U.S. taxpayers alone to foot the bill for a swine flu vaccine will be in the vicinity of 10 billion dollars.

I agree with Stephen that most people are likely to jump at the opportunity to get the vaccine. What I did not fully appreciate, and what most others probably also do not fully understand, are the pros and cons of doing so. I certainly was not aware that there may only be sufficient vaccine to inoculate a select portion of the population, so many of us may be required to forgo our spot in the line. Read more…

What Are the Most Common Reasons For Hair Loss and Balding?

Are you curious as to why you are starting to lose your hair? This article will go over the most common reasons for hair loss and what you can do not only help prevent future hair loss, but also help stimulate new hair growth.

Common Reasons For Hair Loss

Many people who suffer from hair loss have unique medical conditions such as cancer, thyroid disease, and skin disease. Other people can also loose their hair because of a certain medication they are taking, if they are going through chemotherapy or other type of radiation, or because they have been exposed to certain chemicals and toxins. It’s also pretty common for women to start loosing their hair during pregnancy, menopause, or at other times where hormonal and nutritional changes occur.

You may not believe it, but some people start to loose their hair when they are dealing with too much stress. The stress that they deal with is obviously more severe than the everyday stress we may experience (i.e. a horrible car accident, a death in the family, etc.). Read more…

Interesting Vegetable Nutrition Facts

Eating vegetables can be difficult for some people to stomach. They would rather get their nutrients that they may need from other food groups rather than from vegetables. Even though many doctors and nutritionists constantly inform the public about the vegetable nutrition facts, it seems that it is just not enough to convince them to regularly include vegetables in their daily diet. It has been noted that less than 25% of the population in America include the right portion amount of vegetables each day.

Aside from cancer, below are just some of the common illnesses that people in the U.S acquire due to the lack of proper nutrients that come from vegetables:

• Diabetes

Most obese people in the U.S are affected by some type of diabetes. One of the reasons why they get diabetes, is due to the lack of fiber in the body, which helps to stabilize the body’s sugar level and help keep down their cholesterol level as well. Read more…

Give Your Prostate a Better Chance by Taking Omega 3 Fish Oil Supplements

For men the prostate gland is a weak point, and Achilles heal. Prostate cancer kills one man in every thirty four in America. It is the second most deadly form of cancer for men being second to lung cancer.

You can give yourself and your prostate gland a better chance of good health by taking a simple supplement – Omega 3 fish oil.

Omega 3 fish oil supplements are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA.

Scientific studies of prostate cancer in men and laboratory mice have shown that increasing the intake of these fatty acids can have beneficial effects for men in the higher risk groups for prostate cancer. These groups include those genetically susceptible to this form of cancer. They also include those men whose life style increases their susceptibility of developing prostate cancer. Men in this group include amongst other those who smoke or who are overweight. These men can reduce the possibility of developing this form of cancer by increasing their consumption of Omega 3 fatty acids. Read more…

Immune System Herbs and Their Role in Fighting Cancer

Cat’s claw extract and other immune system herbs are known for their healing properties, but can they do more than the basic work of helping to make your body stronger? Can they fight cancer and work as anti cancer herbs? While improving your body’s defense system is nothing to minimize as far as health benefits go, the ability to fight cancer to any degree make this herb one that demands closer examination.

A Strong Immune System

Immune system herbs help to promote overall health by keeping your body in a state where it has the ability to fight off foreign bodies that might cause illness. This is not small feat given the run down state of many peoples’ bodies today. In a society that prizes long work hours and little sleep, it is easy to forget that this physical and mental overexertion can have very real and dramatic health implications.

If taken to an extreme, then the body loses the ability to fight off illnesses that once would not have proven to be a problem. Once you add in the combined effects of poor nutrition and consistently high stress levels then you have a recipe for health problems. The human body was not made to run on the manufactured, processed foods that have become the mainstays of the American diet, and the human body was not meant to endure consistently high stress levels.

How To Prevent Cancer – A Detailed Study

Reduce Your Risk

Consider this number: 10 million. That’s how many cases of cancer are diagnosed worldwide each year. Now consider this number: 15 million. That’s how many cases of cancer the World Health Organization estimates will be diagnosed in the year 2020 — a 50 percent increase — if we don’t get our act together.

Most cancers don’t develop overnight or out of nowhere. Cancer is largely predictable, the end result of a decades-long process, but just a few simple changes in your daily life can significantly reduce your risk. Here are 31 great tips.

1. Serve sauerkraut at your next picnic. A Finnish study found that the fermentation process involved in making sauerkraut produces several other cancer-fighting compounds, including ITCs, indoles, and sulforaphane. To reduce the sodium content, rinse canned or jarred sauerkraut before eating. 2. Eat your fill of broccoli, but steam it rather than microwaving it. Broccoli is a cancer-preventing superfood, one you should eat frequently. But take note: A Spanish study found that microwaving broccoli destroys 97 percent of the vegetable’s cancer-protective flavonoids. So steam it, eat it raw as a snack, or add it to soups and salads.

Hyperthermia In Cancer Treatment

Breaf History of Hyperthermia
The healing effect of heat treatment was already mentioned in the advanced cultures of the old Egypt (2400 B.C.), but only the medical professionals of the Greek Antique used this therapeutic approach consistently, acknowledged it and called it over-warming (in Greek: Hyperthermia). “Give me the power to produce fever and I heal every illness”, said Parmenides, Greek physician, 540-480 B.C.

Hyperthermia in cancer treatment
Hyperthermia (also called thermal therapy or thermotherapy) is an acute condition which occurs when the body produces or absorbs more heat than it can dissipate. It is usually caused by prolonged exposure to high temperatures. The heat-regulating mechanisms of the body eventually become overwhelmed and unable to effectively deal with the heat, causing the body temperature to climb uncontrollably.

Hyperthermia can also be created artificially by drugs or medical devices. In these instances it may be used to treat cancer and other conditions. Cancer cells are more heat-sensitive than healthy cells and their structure reacts differently to overheating. Read more…

Prostate Problems – Why Do Men Hide Away?

Men do not always talk about their health concerns to each other. It is part of their wanting to keep that macho image. They think discussing these kinds of things is a sign of weakness. That is why illnesses and diseases as serious as prostate cancer are often left unnoticed and untreated.

Cancer is caused by the sudden development of cancerous cells in the prostate gland. It happens when some cells in prostate gland start to divide and spread in a disorganized, uncontrolled and chaotic manner.

Symptoms of prostate cancer often occur when the cancer is already on its advanced form. Most of the symptoms are evident in a man’s urination activity. Some of them include: frequent need to urinate but inability to start urinating, difficulty in urinating, painful sensation when urinating, blood in semen/urine, and frequent stiffness or pain in the hips, thighs and lower back.

Be Safe and Know More Through Colon Cleanse Reviews

With so much alternative means and detoxifying methods, one asks if there is an unbiased and a solidly objective colon cleanse review in the mainstream media. Adding to the hype is the heavy flow of infomercials everywhere, the internet and the unabashed publication of the so-called “natural” healthy lifestyle. Flashy commercials on colon cleansers like the pill, patch or potion are so attractive that the unsuspecting individual soon fall victim to the dangers.

With the influx of health institutions and their claims, as well as the barrage of product sales talk by agents everywhere, it is indeed a difficult task to discern your options. Many colon cleanse reviews are self-serving and funded by entities promoting such method of detoxification. Their prime motive is sales and production, yours is your well-being.
