How to cope with Depression
There are many people in the world today with depression, so if you feel down and sad to any degree remember that you are not alone.
Symptoms can include feeling sad, tiered, lethargic, apathetic and hopeless to name a few.
All these symptoms and more can vary greatly from one individual to the next but if any of them sound familiar or if you are experiencing other symptoms depression the following tips can help
1) When we are depressed its feels very unpleasant so our first reaction is usually to fight it but the best thing to do here is to let the sensations be and experience them as they arise. If you have disturbing thoughts the best thing to do is to let them be too and not act on them .The trick is to take the energy out of the pain by letting it in.
2) Getting outside can really help if things are overwhelming you. Outside is more expansive and open and things always seem more optimistic when we are outdoors.
3) Try having a conversation with your depression. This may sound crazy but it can really work.Try sitting in one chair being you and place something to represent your depression in another chair. Ask your depression why it is here and what it wants from you . You may be surprised at the answer. Allot of things that bother us in life are simply looking for our attention. When we give them our full attention they can simply fade away.
4) Imagine your depression is a child looking for your attention. Ask yourself what happens when you give a child attention in life. they usually just go about their business and leave you alone.
